We are Jaime and Mike, founders of MAIKARA Consulting. Together we have a combined three decades of experience in leadership, coaching, mentoring, and organizational development. Many organizations invest heavily in senior leaders, but underinvest in the layers that drive day-to-day execution. Jaime Dial, Ed.D. serves as Assistant Superintendent for Quality and Student Services in a public school district in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, she leads a comprehensive portfolio that includes communications, safety and security, student services, health services, and access, inclusion, and family engagement. As a member of the Superintendent’s Executive Cabinet, Dr. Dial plays a key role in shaping district strategy, including leading the development and implementation of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan and overseeing systemwide program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts grounded in the Baldrige Excellence Framework.
Dr. Dial has been instrumental in advancing organizational performance and student-centered systems. She led her district’s successful application for a Quality Texas Foundation award, resulting in the organization earning the highest level of recognition in 2023. She also supports statewide quality efforts as a Quality Texas Foundation examiner. Her leadership has extended to critical initiatives such as COVID-19 response, expanding family engagement through the development of a district and building councils, and ongoing work to strengthen student services systems and processes.
During her career, Dr. Dial served as Director of Secondary Education in two different school districts, where she supervised middle and high school principals and led major system initiatives, including redesigning curriculum and resource adoption processes, transitioning to a 6–8 middle school model, and supporting the creation of an innovation studio to alleviate enrollment stress on two high schools. She also led professional learning systems, new teacher induction, aspiring leader cohorts, and districtwide curriculum development efforts, including rapid adaptation for hybrid learning during the pandemic. Early in her career as a Director, she led workforce readiness initiatives, and secured grant funding for innovative programming
Dr. Dial began her career as a classroom science teacher and coach before serving as building administrator.
She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Master’s degree in School Leadership from Baker University, and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Missouri Western State University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Dial remains actively engaged in professional organizations and leadership networks, including the Missouri Association of School Administrators and regional leadership initiatives.
Dr. Mike Dial is an experienced educational leader currently serving as an Assistant Principal at a high school in Kansas City, Missouri, a role he has held since 2014. With nearly three decades in education, his career spans teaching, coaching, athletic leadership, and school administration, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of student achievement and school systems.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Dial served as an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at the middle school level and taught and coached at both the high school and middle school levels. He began his career in education as a substitute teacher, coach, and youth leader, building a strong foundation in student relationships and community engagement. In addition to his K–12 leadership roles, he has also contributed to higher education as an adjunct professor.
Dr. Dial holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, where his research focused on the relationship between advanced math course completion and ACT math performance. He also earned a Specialist in Educational Leadership, a Master of Arts in School Leadership, and a Bachelor of Science in English Education.
He is known for his strengths in communication, relationship-building, and leadership development, as well as his positive, organized, and student-centered approach. His work has contributed to recognized achievements, including ICLE National Model School designation and Apple Distinguished School honors.
Dr. Dial is an active member of multiple professional organizations and remains committed to continuous improvement and excellence in education.
